"This is an exciting match for our women’s team. We are really looking forward to our first WPSL match. The coaching staff has been working hard getting the ladies ready," said General Manager, Rafe Mauran. "We have put together a talented team that we expect to compete for a WPSL Southeast Conference title right away."

The match will pit the top two teams from the NPSL’s Southeast Conference in 2011. The two teams finished as conference co-champions with Jacksonville earning the berth in the NPSL semi-finals based on the "most wins" tiebreaker.

It was a hard fought match that ended scoreless after 90 minutes of regulation play. Hailab Habtom scored a fantastic header off of a Sean Grisham corner kick in the 101st minute to put the Revolution on top. The Revs killed off the remaining time to secure the shutout and the victory.

 

With the win, the Revolution advance to the 2nd round where they will host the Atlanta Silverbacks pro team on Tuesday, May 22nd at the RYSA Soccerplex. This is the biggest game in the history of the Revolution. With a win, they will face a team from Major League Soccer in the 3rd round. Once again, the Revolution are encouraging all fans to wear white. All kids 12 and under wearing a white shirt will be admitted free of charge.

Despite having to deal with high pressure from the Lazers, the Revolution had no trouble finding the back of the net. At the end of the night, the Revolution defeated the Lazers 6-1. 
Six different Revolution players came away with a goal Saturday night: Brittany Whitson, Jordan Young, Emily Boggus, Jocelyn Baker, Alexis Schultz, and Lauren Moore. “I was pleased with the team’s performance this weekend,” Assistant GM Leigh Jakes said. “It’s always good to get a winning result. It’s also great to keep the fans entertained with so many exciting goals. Should be a great season for the Revolution.”

The Georgia Revolution kicked off the 2012 season very strongly with a 7-1 win over the Mississippi Storm. The Revolution came out firing on all cylinders with 2 quick goals in the first 5 minutes, the first from Emeka Maduka and the second from Sean Grisham. The Revs were able to tally two more before the half, one coming from an own goal and the other coming from Kwadwo Poku. The Revs went into half time with a 4-0 lead.
The second half was very similar to the first for the Revs as they dominated possession and shots on goal. Three more goals were tallied by the Revs in the second half, the first being scored by Mark Lavery, the second by Riley Sumpter, and the last by Kwadwo Poku for his second of the night. The game ended with a final score of 7-1 in favor of the Revolution. The Revs return to action Tuesday night as the host the first round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. LET’S GO REVS!

Started in 1913, the Open Cup is the oldest ongoing national soccer competition in the United States and is presently open to all United States Soccer Federation affiliated teams, from amateur adult club teams to the professional clubs of Major League Soccer.
"We are truly honored to be a part of the U.S. Open Cup", said General Manager, Rafe Mauran. "This will be a great opportunity for our club and our players to take part in this time honored soccer tradition in the United States. The fact that we have a chance to compete against professional teams and potentially an MLS side is unbelievable."

"Leigh has a tremendous amount of experience both playing with and working for professional soccer clubs," said General Manager, Rafe Mauran. "She will be a huge asset to the Georgia Revolution as we look to take both our men’s and women’s teams to the next level."

The women will compete in the WPSL during the summer of 2012.
"We are very excited to start a women’s team here. There are a number of ladies that have gone on to continue their playing careers from RYSA and we hope to have many of them competing on the fields here again this summer," said General Manager, Rafe Mauran. "A number of quality players have come through RYSA and Atlanta is a great place to recruit top young talent. I am very confident that we will have a quality side. I feel like this new team will be competitive right from the first kick."

Michael Wheeler, FIFA agent and President of MAE agency stated, "Based on my time with the NPSL all star team, observing the practices and the quality of the players, I recently signed Jumol Harewood, who I will be sending to the MLS or abroad." Mr. Wheeler continued to state, "The NPSL gives a professional playing environment and I look forward to watching the NPSL league continue to develop players for the future."
Jumol has been invited to tryouts with the New England Revolution and Toronto FC of MLS. He is also looking into options abroad. "We are very proud of Jumol", said Revolution GM, Rafe Mauran. "He was key to our success last summer. We will miss his presence, and will follow him closely in the coming months as he pursues his professional goals. I have no doubt he will make it at the next level."
